Re: Better Dynasty?
Id have to go with JJK baseball because they didnt play in split divisions and PV might not have as many titles if they had to play Appy in the Region finals and twice in the same year. One thing I know from experience, you might beat Tom Turner once in the same year but twice was always a very tall order.

I can't believe what I am seeing here. Are my eyes deceiving me?
All this talk about a dynasty in high school sports and no mention of Great City.

Re: Better Dynasty?
HAHA, Very True Vike....
No Disrespect to the Vikes, but I'm gonna take sides with Indian Dad here and say that I feal the Kelly Baseball squad deserves the strongest Dynasty award...
-
Re: Better Dynasty?
I would have to say the PV football program has the upper hand. This entire area in general fields stronger teams in football than in baseball. This means the Vikes had to compete against tougher competition. The Kelly baseball program has been great, but the competion is weaker until they advance past the region.

Re: Better Dynasty?
But they have only lost three times after advancing, I'm gonna have to say that's pretty strong, considering they never get any quality practice around here...;)
-
Re: Better Dynasty?
Vike, here is a diffence as well though. Generally, you will face much tougher competition as you go upstate maybe as compared to the area, although honestly, back in the day, baseball was pretty tough everywhere in the region. Until you had the big shift in single A with much larger schools, you could pretty much pencil in Region D as having the toughest region by far in football, especially in the 80s.

Re: Better Dynasty?
Clintwood's dynasty of the 70's, has them both beat. 64 regular season games without a loss.

Probably did for intensity but it didn't last nearly as long.

Re: Better Dynasty?
I'll have to get Sportsman to jog the memory, but if I remember it right, back in the early 80's when Sports Illustrated mentioned JJK baseball, the Tribe had an absurdly long win streak. I can't remember the number, but it was/still is unmatched in any sport in this area. Clintwood's football run was awesome no doubt.
JJk won 4 consecutive state championships (hard to top that)

Re: Better Dynasty?
Didnt Pv win 3 straight twice?
I again have to say they is no disrespect intended on any part of this and I dont think anyone has, its just an awesome accomplishment to the work of the kids in both programs, Sorta like The Boston Celtics and the NY Yankees. We just have had the luxury of having 2 of the most storied programs in the state, 15 miles apart.
I still say its a push, to many variables to say one or the other, but a real topic with people who talk about the topic is nice.
